	New India:Selected Writings 2014-19	Arun Jaitley, former finance minister	Juggernaut Books publishing house New Delhi, India has announced a new book of compilation of selected writings by former finance minister Arun Jaitley, namely “New India:Selected Writings 2014-19” which offers readers with the late’s politicians sharp insight on topics including GST (Goods and Services Tax),demonetisation and Kashmir.
	Karmayoddha Granth	Amit Shah Union Home Minister	The book ‘Karmayoddha Granth’ on the Life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event in New Delhi. The book states that the politics of appeasement, casteism, and dynasty, the three curses of Indian Politics, were removed by the PM Modi after 2014.

WV Raman is the current head coach of the national women’s cricket team. Published by Rupa Publications, India, the book deals with all the attributes required for a leader that exists in each one of us.
	Essays & Reminiscences: A Festschrift in Honour of Nani A Palkhivala	Arvind P Datar	To mark the birth centenary anniversary of Indian Jurist and Economist Nanaboy "Nani" Ardeshir Palkhivala. The book is published by LexisNexis publications. The book was commissioned by the Nani A Palkhivala Memorial Trust and edited by the senior advocate Arvind Datar. Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram G Rajan, Industrialist Ratan N Tata, Jurists Fali S Nariman, Soli J Sorabjee and K Parasaran and Justice (retired) S Ranganathan are some of the important contributors of the book.
Human Dignity – A purpose in perpetuity		Ashwani Kumar	Former Union Minister of Law and Justice, Ashwani Kumar authored the book title “Human Dignity – A purpose in perpetuity”, which was released by Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a book launch event at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The book was published by US(United States) based publisher LexisNexis. The books portrays the author’s view on issues related to freedom, dignity and justice faced in society.
The Gateway: A Social Commentary on Safety of Senior Citizens		Hariharan Balagopal	It was released by Justice Konakuppakatil Gopinathan Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of India (CJI), at the 14th Security Leadership Summit held in New Delhi. The book was published by Ailum publications. It stresses about the lack of safety faced by senior citizens. Hariharan Balagopal is a specialist in Media Management & Education and also as a consultant for many educational initiatives.
The Story of Yoga: From India to the Contemporary World		Scottish cultural historian Alistair Shearer	Book titled "The Story of Yoga: From India to the Contemporary World" which has been written by Scottish cultural historian Alistair Shearer will be released at the end of January, 2020 by publisher Penguin Random House. The book discusses about the practice of yoga since ancient time in India till now.
Balwa		Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister for Minority Affairs	The Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Hindi novel Balwa, a fiction story based on the happenings in India in the 1990s is all set to be published by Diamond Pocket Books. Apart from this he has written a Hindi novel ‘Raj Lila’, which based on the story of tribal woman’s struggles & Cyber Supari will also be released soon.
Relentless		Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Former president of India	Former president of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee released the autobiography of former Finance Minister Shri Yashwant Sinha titled “Relentless” at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The book describes Sinha’s journey from a normal life to a high political powered life. The book is published by Bloomsbury Publishing India Pvt ltd.
Calcutta nights		Hemendra Kumar Roy	Rajat Chaudhri, translated the book “Calcutta nights” (originally ‘Raater Kolkata’) into English and was published by Niyogi Books. The book was first written in Bengali by Hemendra Kumar Roy, famous Bengali writer and was published in 1923. The book reveals the darkest secrets of Kolkata to the readers.

Indian embassy in Nepal celebrates Vishwa Hindi Diwas; launches Nepali translation of Swami Vivekananda's 'Karma Yoga'

In order to mark the event of Vishwa Hindi Diwas on January 10, 2020, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal has launched 4 books including Nepali translation of Swami Vivekananda's 'Karma Yoga' (Publisher -Advaita Ashrama).The other 3 books launched by Indian embassay include:

      Nepali translated book consisting of 5 popular stories penned by Indian writer Premchand

      Hindi translations of 'Ashwathama' penned by Nepalese poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire (Publisher- Royal Nepal Academy)

      ‘Utkrishta Kahaniyan’, a book published by Unicorn Books comprising 25 new age Nepali stories written by young Nepali story writers.

 

26 new Indian English words featured in 10th Oxford dictionary;Aadhaar, hartal among them

The 10th edition of the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary was launched. In this latest edition 26 new Indian languages words namely Aadhaar, Chawl, dabba, hartal, shaadi were included. Several incorporate words like chatbot, fake news, microplastic & over 1000 new words were included. Out of the 26 Indian language words, 22 are figured in printed dictionary while the remaining 4 words (looter, current, looting and upazila) are in the digital version. The new edition has a total of 384 Indian English words.

An Extraordinary Life: A biography of Manohar Parrikar	Sadguru Patil and Mayabhushan Nagvenkar	A book titled “An Extraordinary Life: A biography of Manohar Parrikar” was written by senior journalists Sadguru Patil and Mayabhushan Nagvenkar. The book was published by Penguin Random House India and to be released in April 2020. Manohar Parrikar is the former Union Defence Minister (2014-17) and he also served as Chief Minister of Goa.
Invincible – A Tribute to Manohar Parrikar	Tarun Vijay	Released by defence minister Rajnath Singh on 16th March 2020. Recently Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the book to President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on the first death anniversary of Manohar Parrikar.
My Encounters in Parliament	Bhalchandra Mungekar	The book titled “My Encounters in Parliament” was authored by Bhalchandra Mungekar an Indian economist, former member of Rajya Sabha.

Corona Studies Series	Launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)	National Book Trust (NBT), India, the national body for book publishing and book promotion under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), is launching a publishing series titled ‘Corona Studies Series’ to document and to provide relevant reading materials for all age-groups for the post-corona readership needs. MHRD also set-up a Study Group comprising some experienced & young psychologists/ counsellors to prepare books on the sub-series ‘Psycho-Social Impact of Corona Pandemic and the Ways to Cope’.

The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump	Mary Jordan	The Pulitzer Prize-winning American reporter for The Washington Post, Mary Jordan has written a book titled ‘The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump’. It is published by Simon & Schuster and is to be released on June 16, 2020.
Shuttling to the Top: The Story of P V Sindhu	Krishnaswamy V	A book titled “Shuttling to the Top: The Story of P V Sindhu” authored by Krishnaswamy V was published by HarperCollins in Amazon digital platform along with other two books, amid the lockdown due to Coronavirus. The other 2 books published by HarperCollins are, Shameless by Taslima Nasreen translated from Bengali written by Arunava Sinha & “The Big Questions of Life” by Om Swami.
How the Onion Got Its Layers	Sudha Murty	A book titled “How the Onion Got Its Layers” authored by Sudha Murty was published by Puffin. The book is being released in its e-book and audio form for young children. “How the Onion Got Its Layers” marks the first ever audio book by Murty and will be released on World Book Day, ie, April 23, 2020. This is the second book of the Chapter series by Murty, the first being “How the Sea Became Salty”.

The book is scheduled to be published in October by HarperCollins Publisher India.

COVID KATHA- A	-	Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Science & Technology, Health & Family Welfare and Earth Sciences, launched “COVID KATHA- A Multimedia Guide for Mass Awareness”, a multimedia guide on COVID-19 on the occasion of the 50th DST (Department of Science and Technology) Foundation Day on May 3, 2020. The Golden Jubilee Celebrations were also launched, initiating myriad activities in different parts of the country throughout the year.

The 3 handbooks were prepared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on measures taken by the Board to adopt value-based global standards of education.
Hop On: My Adventures on Boats, Trains and Planes	Ruskin Bond	Popular author Ruskin Bond has authored a book titled ‘Hop On: My Adventures on Boats, Trains and Planes. The e-book format was released on the occasion of his 86th birthday. The illustration of the new book has been done by Samrat Halder and published by Speaking Tiger’s children’s imprint Talking Cub.
The Ickabog	JK Rowling	Harry Potter author JK Rowling released a new online Children’s book named ‘The Ickabog’ to entertain children during Coronavirus lockdown. The new story will be serialized with a couple of chapters released for free online and posted on “The Ickabog” website every weekday from May 26, 2020 to July 10, 2020 in instalments. This is the first book of author JK Rowling aimed at children since “Harry Potter and the Deathly
		Hallows”. Author also wrote books for adults — ‘The Casual Vacancy’ and ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ (under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith).

This marks the first anniversary of the second term of the government.

Safe online learning in the times of COVID-19	Launched by Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank	Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched information booklet “Safe online learning in the times of COVID-19” digitally to raise awareness to students and teachers about online safety & ensure timely action in cases of cyberbullying in New Delhi. The booklet is developed by NCERT and UNESCO New Delhi Office.

They released the 1st ebook titled “Leaving and Other Stories” under Lockdown Liaisons on May 30, 2020. The book displays the shifting emotions of people during the pandemic and its effect on people and their struggle to adjust to the “new normal”.
Naoroji Pioneer of Indian Nationalism	Historian Dinyar Patel	Historian Dinyar Patel has written the biography of Dadabhai Naoroji titled “Naoroji Pioneer of Indian Nationalism” was published by the Harvard University Press in May 2020. The book displays the life chapters of Dadabhai Naoroji, who had become the first Asian to be elected to the British parliament in 1892.
Klara and the Sun	Kazuo Ishiguro	Nobel Prize winner (2017) Kazuo Ishiguro (Japan born British author) will release his new novel ‘Klara and the Sun’ & will be published by Faber & Faber in the United Kingdom, Alfred A. Knopf in the United States and Knopf in Canada on March 2, 2021. He won Man Booker Prize in 1989 for the novel, ‘The Remains of the Day’.
A Burning	Megha Majumdar	The Penguin Hamish Hamilton released the “A Burning”, debut novel of Megha Majumdar. The 32-year-old New York’s writer who was born and raised in Kolkata. The book was published on 2nd June 2020 by Knopf Doubleday publishing Group.
